Company History
Medical Management Strategies was founded in 1996 by a small group of independent physicians and experienced healthcare executives. Since then, MMS has grown to become one of the more prominent healthcare practice management companies providing services in billing, EHR, practice management consulting, IT management and technology.
Our unique approach to providing these services has helped us grow. MMS prides itself in ensuring that healthcare providers retain a large measure of autonomy and control over their practice management and operations. Our focus has always been to work closely with our providers to establish a framework by which we can address common interests and benefits from the efficiencies with being associated with a larger organization.
Through MMS, healthcare providers are able to access structure and depth as well as state-of-the-art technology to compliment their practices’ management staff.
Management Team
The following is a list and brief biography of our management team:
Robert Sayers - President & Executive Director
Bob is one of the founding members of Medical Management Strategies, LLC (MMS) and has served as its President and Executive Director since its start in 1996. His extensive background in medical group formation, practice financial management and operations has provided a wide range of experience and expertise in the healthcare industry and included a position as Chief Financial Officer for a healthcare company comprised of hospitals, nursing homes and physician groups which totaled 16 facilities in five states.
Bob most recently worked with several healthcare organizations, medical groups and individual physicians to set up the procurement and operations of an Electronic Medical Record System, in concert with our practice management system for scheduling, billing and collections.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Rutgers University, Rutgers College and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from California Lutheran University.
Lynn Loughlin – Director of Operations
Lynn has been an owner and serves as Director of Operations at MMS. She comes with over 25 years of healthcare financial management experience. Positions held include: Owner and Director of Billing Operations for a professional medical billing and consulting company; the Corporate Director of Business Services for an acute care/extended care hospital and nursing home company; Risk Manager; Director of Acquisitions and Contracting Services; Assistant Controller; and Staff Consultant. She has extensive expertise in reimbursement, budgeting and financial analysis.
At MMS Lynn is responsible for the coordination of all new clients, managing the accounts receivable conversion processes, database/software initialization, training office and billing staff and electronic billing set-up, centralized billing, A/R analysis and ongoing daily supervision of Medical Management supervisory and employee staff.
Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Administration from California State University of Northridge, and has completed a Frontline Leadership Management Training program.
Ceresa Beason – Manager, Contracting & Credentialing
Ceresa has been with Medical Management Strategies for five years overseeing the contracting and credentialing services. Prior to coming to MMS she had over 13 years of managed care contracting experience including designing and implementing contracting strategies for a Midwestern physician-owned, multi-specialty practice of over 200 physicians.
Ceresa brings extensive knowledge in the areas of contract negotiation, fee schedule analysis, credentialing and network development. She also has experience as a Provider Relations Consultant for a large insurance payer, and a third party administrator and as Director of Provider Relations for a statewide managed care network.
She is certified as a Professional with the Academy of Healthcare Management (PAHM).
Mark Trejo – Senior Network Administrator
For over seven years now Mark has been the head of IT here at Medical Management Strategies. With extensive knowledge in computer networking, data/disaster recovery planning and electronic health record implementation Mark has been able to achieve workable solutions for MMS physicians across the country. With close to ten years of network administration experience and over seven years of concentration in the healthcare information technology industry Mark’s unique skill set truly differentiates him from other technicians in the industry.
Starting in 1999 as a PC repair technician for Compaq, Mark quickly moved his way up to working on small local area networks until he found himself as the sole administrator for the city of Pismo Beach, California. In 2002, Mark started working with Medical Management Strategies on enterprise level networking solutions. Through a complete network overhaul Mark was able to provide MMS and its clients with a faster and more reliable network. These solutions have helped increase client’s speed and security across the board. Mark also has extensive experience in HIPPA compliant network security, design, and implementation solutions.
Mark holds a diploma from Santa Barbara Business College in network administration as well as numerous certifications from Microsoft, A+, Compaq, Epson, eClinicalWorks, and SOAPware.
